My hope rests in You...

This week as well-meaning family and friends have offered opinions and advice on how to deal with the dealership we purchased the Volvo from, I for some reason have been focused on the Psalms.  Particularly the early Psalms of David.
I have been recalling reading about how David, after the famous confrontation with Goliath and his move to King Saul's residence to be a helper, was often the victim of Saul's horrible mood swings.  I think of it as the first documented case of being bi-polar or manic.  The Bible mentions a "tormenting spirit" that would visit Saul, see 1 Samuel starting with chapter 8, to stir up feelings of jealousy and anger towards David, leading to Saul trying to pin David to the wall with his spear.  Things escalated to David running and hiding from Saul, being actively pursued not just by the soldiers but by the King himself as well. David never understood what he did to make the King angry with him and he pleaded with God.  God was his shelter, his deliverer and the one he looked to to keep him safe.  There are at least 20 different references to God as a shield.

I have thought about actions we could take against the dealership to compensate for the stress, inconvenience, expense and everything else we have dealt with because of this transaction.  Each time I do, though, I hear this voice in my head and my heart reminding me of the blessings that I have.  My mother-in-law and father-in-law have been so gracious to let us use their 3rd vehicle this summer so we did not have to continue paying for a rental car.  We have our jobs and can pay our bills.  I feel compelled to strive to take the higher road and be a witness to the dealer of God's working power in our lives, to act toward him with Grace.  I have also tried to be smart about this and not be a door mat as well.  We have requested an investigation from the Oregon DoJ and DMV to protect us as consumers, but if the fault lays with the auto shop more so than the dealer, that will come out of the investigation.  If the dealer is acting wrongfully or without integrity, that too will come out of the investigation and they will have to deal with the consequences.  As far as my "rights" for vengeance, justice or whatnot, I hand them over to He That Protects Me.  He is Adonai nissi - My Lord my banner - and Jehovah Jireh (My God Will See [to it] or My God Will Provide).

Biblical trivia tidbit:  In Genesis 22:14 where we get Jehovah Jireh from, after God has directed Abraham to sacrifice Isaac on the mountain in Moriah and Abraham says, "God will provide a sheep for the burnt offering" IT IS A FORESHADOWING.  That site later became the location for the Temple of Solomon, aka the Temple Mount.  The temple is not at the summit of the mountain but in a saddle below the summit with the summit to the North.  There's been archeological evidence that the summit is where Jesus was crucified.
